Pay for a wing to be rebuilt.

Your gift buys antibiotics, sutures, anaesthetic gas, food and aviary time at the raptor hospital that receives more birds of prey than any other in the world. It is deductible in the United States, and it goes out the door with almost nothing taken off the top.

Why it matters

Raptor medicine is the expensive end of wildlife rescue.

A bird of prey cannot be released half-fixed. A songbird with a slight wing deficit may cope in the wild; an eagle that cannot hunt will starve. That means real surgery, real anaesthesia, real imaging, and weeks of flight conditioning in aviaries big enough to prove the repair worked.

Around 40% of documented injuries at our partner’s clinic come from manja — glass-coated kite string that severs the leading edge of a wing. Rebuilding that structure takes skill the clinic spent years developing, and supplies that have to be bought again every single week.

The skill is already there. The money is the part that runs out.

Other ways to give

Not everything has to go on a card.

Several of these are more tax-efficient than a card gift, and some cost you nothing at all today.

Donor-advised fund

Recommend a grant to Raptor Rescue and Research Inc., EIN 87-3289299. If your fund is with Fidelity Charitable, DAF Giving 360 or BNY Charitable you can start it below. Every other sponsor — Vanguard Charitable, community foundations and the rest — accepts a grant recommendation from their own portal in a few minutes.

Give from your DAF

Appreciated stock or securities

Giving appreciated shares you have held for more than a year can let you deduct the full market value and avoid capital gains tax. Write to us and we will send transfer instructions.

Employer matching

Thousands of employers will match your gift dollar for dollar, and some match at two or three times. Check your company's matching-gift portal and enter our EIN.

Qualified charitable distribution

If you are 70½ or older you can give directly from an IRA. A QCD counts toward your required minimum distribution and is excluded from your taxable income.

A gift in your will

A bequest costs you nothing today and can be written in a single sentence. Naming us in your estate plan sustains this work far beyond any one of us.

By check

Make checks payable to Raptor Rescue and Research Inc. and mail to 351 E 50th St, Apt 2, New York, NY 10022. Please include an email address and we will send your acknowledgement letter.

Bank transfer

For a gift of $1,000 or more, paying by US bank account instead of a card costs us far less in processing fees, so more of it reaches the clinic. Choose your bank at checkout, or write to us and we will send transfer details.

Questions

Before you give

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. Raptor Rescue and Research Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization recognised by the IRS, EIN 87-3289299. Contributions are deductible in the United States to the extent permitted by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for your gift.

Are you registered to solicit donations?

Yes. We are registered with the New York State Charities Bureau as a dual registrant, No. 51-02-33, which places us under the supervision of the state Attorney General and requires an annual CHAR500 filing on top of our federal return. Upon request, a copy of the latest annual report may be obtained from the organization or from the Office of the Attorney General, Charities Bureau, 28 Liberty Street, New York, NY 10005.

Will I get a receipt?

Stripe emails an immediate payment confirmation. For gifts of $250 or more the IRS requires a written acknowledgement from us, which we will send to the email address you provide at checkout. If you need one sooner, or for a smaller gift, just ask.

Where does the money actually go?

Grants currently go to Wildlife Rescue in Wazirabad, Delhi, India, funding medical consumables, surgical and diagnostic capacity, and the care that carries a bird from admission through to release. As a US charity we retain full discretion and control over the use of our funds.

Can I give in memory or in honour of someone?

Yes. Make your gift as normal and then write to us with the name and, if you would like, an address for us to send a card to. We are happy to do this and we do not charge for it.

How do I cancel or change a monthly gift?

Write to us at any time and we will cancel or adjust it the same day, no questions asked. Your Stripe confirmation email also contains a link to manage the subscription yourself.

Can I give from outside the United States?

You are very welcome to, and card payments work internationally — but a US charitable deduction is only useful to a US taxpayer. Donors in India may prefer to give to Wildlife Rescue directly, where 80(G) relief applies.
